300 kilometres - and 290 ks south west of Launceston.
Strahan Backpackers is set among native forest
and is a 10-minute walk to the Strahan town centre.
Guests can chose from rustic private huts, double or twin rooms
or dormitory rooms. The property has shared bathroom facilities,
two communal kitchens, a large common room and laundry. There
is also outdoor seating in the extensive grounds and a barbecue
area.

Strahan is located on Tasmania’s west coast and is around
4.5 hours’ drive (300 kilometres) from Hobart.
Strahan is a small harbour side village on the edge of the
Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. You can explore Macquarie
Harbour from a sea kayak, go jet boating or visit the awesome
Henty sand dunes. There are seaplane flights from Strahan over
the wild forests of the southwest wilderness and cruises on the
glassy water of the Gordon River. Treat yourself to fine Tasmanian
food and wine, including freshly caught seafood, at one of Strahan’s
restaurants or cafes, or browse the craft shops for a Huon Pine
artefact made by a local artist.

Strahan is a small town and
former port on the west coast of Tasmania, Australia. It is now
a significant locality for tourism in the region. Strahan Harbour
and Risby Cove form part of the north-east end of Long Bay on
the northern end of Macquarie Harbour. As at the 2006 census,
Strahan had a population of just over 600 people.
